Lankaran ,   Citrus Valley plantation,   Yashil Chay”(Green Tea) farm , Lankaran Fortress, House of Mirakhmad khan, Kichik-Bazar mosque, Hirkan National Park, Khanbulan lake

Drive from Baku to Lankaran region, takes about 2 – 2,5 hours.

Ideally nestled between the Caspian Sea and the Talysh Mountains, Lankaran is in a very beautiful part of Azerbaijan situated on the south of the country. It is the land of adorable nature and different tastes. This area is also a home to numerous hot springs called Istisu (literally “hot water”), where local long-livers have been healing themselves for centuries. The local cuisine is pretty great too – don’t leave without trying local dishes. Enjoy citruses, tea, mountains and lake views!

We will stop over at “Citrus Valley” plantation located in Istisu district. The owner of the farm will lecture on citrus gardening while showing around; you can take an active part in fruit picking (Oct.-Dec.) or just try and buy local oranges, lemons, mandarins, kiwis or feijoa as well as the jams made from these fruits.

Then guests will explore the secrets of producing Azerbaijani local tea in “Yashil Chay”(Green Tea) farm. Lankaran is a pearl of the South, and tea grown here is ecologically clean. Thus, the cleanliness of air and water in Lankaran, the lack of heavy metals in the soil are the main reason why this tea is so tasty and popular. Here guests will be acquainted with different sorts and tastes of tea grown in this beautiful area.

After this guests will move to Lankaran city. The city’s major landmark is Lankaran Fortress (18th century) and Kichik-Bazar mosque (19th). Right in the city centre there is the House of Mirakhmad khan – one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of Lankaran. The palace was constructed in 1913. The elements of national architecture were skillfully used during the house construction in spite of the fact that it was built by French architects.

Lunch break in local restaurant.

The vast Hirkan National Park spreads throughout the Lankaran and Astara regions. It’s a botanist’s paradise, home to a huge variety of trees, including ancient iron trees that survived the last ice age as well as the very endangered Caucasian leopard.  Here you will see Khanbulan, one of the most beautiful lakes in South Azerbaijan. Have a walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.

After spending time in Khanbulan, guests will return to Baku.
