Naftalan oil is a unique product of Azerbaijan. It is a black-brown liquid of thick consistency with a peculiar smell. Absorbed through skin, it has a positive impact on the capillary blood flow, improves circulation in small vessels, dilates blood vessels, reduces blood clotting, increases the activity of enzymatic processes, stimulates all body functions and has anti-inflammatory effect. It is preventing and treating more than 70 diseases of various specifications and effective in the hands of professionals in 92% of cases.
The Naftalan Oil is recommended in:
1st Day: Arrival to Baku, meeting at the airport. Transfer to Naftalan city (4.5-5 hour drive), check in to the hotel (14:00).
2nd Day-7th Day: Treatment period. The main influencing agents of Naftalan oil are naphthenic hydrocarbons which have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, vasodilating and antiallergic effect. Thanks to all these properties Naftalan therapy is recognized as an irreplaceable method of treatment in many branches of medicine.
Naftalan bath is the main treatment procedure. For 8-10 minutes patient is placed in a bath filled with Naftalan oil preheated to a temperature of 37-38°C. Oil penetrates through the pores and then leaves the body taking all the toxins out. In the end the body is cleaned with special scrapers and wiped with tissues. After that, you need to take a shower and rest for 1 hour.
It feels like a pleasant and comfortable procedure. Guests compare it to being dipped in hot chocolate. But before plunge into this miraculous “chocolate” mass you need to pass an examination and tests, ultrasound and fluorography. After that the physician will explain which regimen has to be followed, which procedures can be taken and prepare a special program for you. The course of treatment takes place under the supervision of a doctor.
In addition to Naftalan baths there are a lot of physiotherapy procedures: blue light, laser, ultrasound, electrosleep, etc., in most of which Naftalan is used as application to the aching spot.
8th Day: Breakfast at the hotel. Check out (before 12:00), transfer to the hotel in Baku (4-4.5 hour drive). Free time.
9th Day: Breakfast at the hotel. Pick-up at 10:00 for Baku City tour.

Walk along the Alley of Martyrs which is usually being included in the protocol visits of the foreign officials. Enjoy the panoramic view of the city and its bay from Baku’s Highland Park (also called Upland Park), the highest point in the Azerbaijani capital.
Walk down to Baku Boulevard to view the International Mugham Center created in order to widely promote Azerbaijani ‘mugham’ (folk musical composition) in the world and shaped as the national musical instrument – ‘tar’. Here you will also see Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, designed by Austrian architect Franz Janz and looking like a rolled carpet.
Wander between the decorative stone bridges of so-called Little Venice, a small town on the water and one of the jewels of Baku. It has two large and several small islands and its gondolas are travelling in the channels full of still and clean water.
Cross the street and enter Icherisheher (Inner City), known as a “Fortress” or “Old City”, a unique historical and architectural conservation area in the center of Baku. This is one of the most ancient places of the country where archaeological excavations revealed burial vaults of the Bronze Age. Maiden Tower (12th century) and The Palace of Shirvanshahs (13th-16th centuries) are the best known historical monuments located in the Old City. Besides them there are a lot of other unique monuments such as mosques, minarets, the remnants of caravanserais “Multani” and “Bukhara”, ancient baths, etc. Stroll down the paved streets of this ancient city and drop to some of the numerous souvenir shops where you can buy national clothes, kerchiefs, scarves and caps, dishes and handmade carpets.
In the end of our excursion you will have a walk through the Philharmonic Park, formerly known as the Governor´s Garden, that goes up the hill towards the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic Hall (1910-1912) built in Italian Renaissance (exterior) and German Rococo (interior) styles. You can make nice photos next to a French-style Baroque fountain while listening to the classic music.
